Nelson Norwood

Nelson Norwood - Long, Loud 'N' Sweaty - 2001 - Guapa

Featuring the rhythm section, Double Trouble, that graced Stevie Ray Vaughan's albums, Austin's Nelson Norwood has released his new CD Long, Loud N' Sweaty. The album is a blues/rock showcase with shades of the Black Crowes and the Rolling Stones in the songwriting, along with Austin's blues guitar impressions and traditions. The title track, in particular, is a saucy, blues-drenched-but-edgy number which makes the point that perhaps you can party too hard, while "Hooked On You" is a muscular shuffle in the Vaughan form, which finds Norwood spewing blues-laced licks soaked in wah-wah. "Girl Friend Experience (GFE)" is another standout, a stomping rock number dedicated to the, ah, call girl trade. Fans of high energy music played with conviction and serious musicianship should check out Long, Loud N' Sweaty. © 1996-2008 Guitar Nine Records All Rights Reserved http://www.guitar9.com/guitarmusic9/longloud.html

Yet another great blues guitarist from Austin, Texas. "Long, Loud 'N Sweaty" features the late SRV's "Double Trouble" rhythm section of bassist Tommy Shannon and drummer Chris Layton. Nelson has been described as "a rocker, with a sound that falls somewhere between The Rolling Stones, Humble Pie, Trapeze and Jimi Hendrix". His sound is influenced by artists like The Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, Hubert Sumlin and BB King. He has shared the stage with artists that include Dickie Betts and James Cotton. You may never hear this album on mainstream media because the music industry is now driven by commercialism, money, and the Svengalis who control TV shows like the X Factor and America's Got Talent/Britain's Got Talent. (America and Britain has got talent, but when do you ever hear artists like Nelson Norwood, James McMurtry, Kyla Brox, etc, etc on the radio?). These are the artists who are keeping real music alive, and deserve wider recognition. Buy the "Nelson Norwood with Swamp Buck & The Kid: Live at SXSW, Austin, Texas" album and promote this guy. Check Amazon, CDBaby, CDUniverse...There are many outlets marketing these artists. Support genuine talent!
