Kris Lager Band - Kris Lager Band - 2003 - Independent Label
The official debut release by The Kris Lager Band is a screamin' cannonball fired straight into 11 cuts of the best Texas Blues I have heard this year. The CD features eleven originals, and is a mandatory listening experience for anyone seeking that Texas sound. The sound is crisp, balanced and definitive, produced superbly at a level usually reserved for mega-national acts. This is a jugarnaught freight train of high-energy that shines with a very tight and precision performance! The sound on this CD is an impressive production that rivals most corporate labels' efforts seen today. (courtesy of www.banditbluesradio.com)
Fundamentally, this is real blues roots music, with some nice "country", gospel, Zydeco, and Soul influences. There are no outstanding songs on this album, nor are there any jaw breaking guitar solos, but the musicianship is excellent, with great vocals and guitar from Kris Lager, (listen to "Sittin' Around Here"), and terrific keyboard work from Jeremiah Weir. The final track, "Storms a Coming" encapsulates what this band is all about. The band play with an obvious passion and love for this kind of music. That, in itself, is just admirable. All in all, this first official studio release from the Kris Lager Band is a good, sincere Texas blues album from a good, tight Nebraskan blues rock band. For a debut, self-produced album, it's pretty impressive. Try and buy the band's 2009 album "The Mighty Quinn" album, which is great, and demonstrates just how this band has improved. Promote these guys !

ABOUT KRIS LAGER BAND
If you haven't heard the name yet, it'll only be in due time. The Kris Lager Band is an original, high energy, midwestern, rootsrock, blues-based band that is solely dedicated to playing passionate, heartfelt music. If that sounds a little confusing to you it's because KLB creates a musical landscape that crosses all genres and can fall wherever, whenever. From Blues, to Rock, to Country, to Jam, to Zydeco, to Gospel... always sounding familiar, yet always sounding original.Born and raised in the heart of the Midwest, and nestled insideone of the country's best unknown thriving music scenes. Kris Lager cut his teeth watching and sometimes playing alongside blues legends on the road or just passing through Lincoln, Nebraska. In fact Kris' first time ever onstage was with multiple WC Handy award winner, Magic Slim when he was only 16 years old.Kris first picked up the guitar at age 14, and then spent the majority of his teenage years deciphering his dad's classic records, and honing his chops with every blues album he could get his hands on. After playing in a few local bands, and bars around town Kris started his own group at the age of 17. For the last five years they've played hundreds of shows, logged thousands of miles, and earned a reputation as one of the country's best-kept secrets. With KLB there's no bloodlines, no hand-me-downs, no freebees, everything that's come through the hands of these youngtroubadours has been hard earned, and self-brought. In a music industry where 'who ya know' is often more important than 'what ya know', you can sure hear the difference in blue collar, rough and tumble, do it yourself musicians.A huge and integral part to the KLB sound is no doubt long time Keyboardist Jeremiah Weir, who adds a sonic diversity and depth to the band. Also born and raised in Nebraska 'Miah' is a self-taught musician who was influenced greatly by the soundsof Booker T. & The MG's, The Meters, and Dr. John just to name a few. Having played together for many years now Miah andKris have attained a musical partnership rarely seen by most musicians, and the interplay between them is undeniable.Last year KLB released one of the top regionally selling, independent albums, and received extensive airplay on radio stationsacross the Midwest. KLB was named 'Best Unsigned Rock Band in the Midwest' by the Midwest Entertainment Music Assoc inJune 2004, and their album was named 'Texas Blues Album of the Year' by Bandit Blues Radio.com based out of Tennessee. They have also shared the stage with some of the industries' most acclaimed artists such as Jonny Lang, Indigenous, Bo Diddley,Los Lonely Boys, Doyle Bramhall, Robben Ford, Foghat, Steppenwolf, Savoy Brown, Lonnie Brooks, Joe Bonamassa, DoubleTrouble, Chris Duarte, Derek Trucks, Tab Benoit, James Solberg, Eric Sardinas, Jimmy Thackery, The Davey Brothers, Magic Slim& The Teardrops, Hadden Sayers Band, Melvin Taylor, Little Milton, Styx, Baby Jason & the Spankers, and more. The only question now is, how long can the' Best Unsigned Band in the Midwest' go without being signed or recognized as just that? MORE ABOUT THE BAND
Kris Lager Band is a Nebraska born group of musicians who have dedicated their lives to learning, living, and loving all aspects of the American music tradition. Self proclaimed "Roots Revivalists", KLB brings an eclectic, high energy show to each and every stage they happen to land on. The musical palette from which they draw upon is strongly rooted in the Blues and Rock and Roll but, has touches of barrelhouse Country, spicy Latin beats, cajun Zydeco, and energetic Gospel music. Playing nearly 200 shows a year for the past 5 years has brought tightness and diversity to every set they play and audiences across the country will agree that Kris Lager Band is on the right path. The band consists of John Fairchild on the drums, AC Wright on the bass, Jeremiah Weir on the piano, organ, and squeeze-box , and Kris Lager on lead vocals and guitars. With their "Celebrate Life" mantra and good times vibe, every show runs the gamut of human emotions. Joy and sorrow, love and lament are all wrapped up in one musical experience where the only constant is pure Soul. If you are wondering why you haven't heard the name yet, it's all in good time. Recently, Indigenous front man Mato Nanji has hired these guys to be his nationally touring band and they have traveled from N.Y. to L.A., and Winnipeg to New Orleans playing a mix of his and their own original music. So here is your chance to see an unique, energetic, mid-western band on their way up. © 2009 krislagerband.com. All Rights Reserved.
