ABOUT PLANKTON
Plankton is an instrumental 5-piece band out of Stockholm, Sweden. The band was formed in 1998 by guitar players Christian and Emil, who at the time were playing in various bands around the Stockholm area. They´d known each other for a few years and were both heavily influenced by the music of the sixties and seventies. They usually got together over a cup of tea and listened to the music of The Jimi Hendrix Experience, The Beatles, Mahogany Rush, Electric Sun, Jan Johansson, Mountain, Deep Purple, Jojje Wadenius, Jeff Beck, Led Zeppelin, Cream and other bands and artists from that era. On a rainy day they decided to put a band together and some time later they hooked up with Lars, Sebastian and Tomas and started jammin´ and recording. These recordings were sent to Joe Romagnola at Grooveyard Records by Janne Stark who had recieved a copy from Sören Dahlgren, a close friend to the band. Joe Romagnola liked what he heard and Plankton was signed to the Grooveyard label. ...the music of Plankton is based on a variety of influences that the five members grew up with. You´ll find blends of everything from The Jimi Hendrix Experience to traditional Swedish folk music, from The Beatles to The Rutles, from Deep Purple to Swedish fairy-tales, from The Shadows to Monty Python´s Flying Circus and of course the legendary Elephantman... © 2011 ROCKPROG Stockholm Sweden http://www.rockprog.com/02_interviews/plankton.aspx

Hola, Daniel. No hay problema, mi amigo. ¿Es que enlazan con Herbie Hancock sigue activo? Eso es genial! Espero que os guste Plankton. Creo que la buena música está haciendo una reaparición! TVM y TTU pronto .. Paul
Whoa, Paul, i like this even more than "Humble Colossus"! Why had i never heard of these guys before? I mean, i try to keep up, but there is just so much great music out there (and so little time).
Cheers, my friend.
Hi,Freg. I also try to keep up with music, but every so often I come across some exceptional music. And yes, time is a problem. I have some wonderful albums by artists from Brazil, Italy, in fact everywhere, but I wish I had more time to upload the stuff. 90% of this stuff will never be heard on mainstream TV or radio. I have been accused of stealing music, but I also know for a fact that people have bought albums after seeing articles on this blog. Some artists have thanked me! It's usually the record companies who threaten legal action. Thanks, & TTU soon
The record companies are so out of touch with reality, they're a joke. When i download something i like, i usually then buy it, and i think that a lot of people who download music do the same.
I liked (journalist) Bob Walton's statement that he was looking forward to the invention of the 36 hour day -- for the added twelve hours of music-listening time!
Hi,Freg. The sad reality is that bands like Little Mix, One Direction, Westlife, and so on...are making the big bucks for the major record companies. These bands are being managed by people like Simon Cowell and his ilk who don't give a flying fuc* about real music. I hate seeing artists getting paid a few cents from companies like CDBaby for music which is not being promoted anywhere else. Only for blogging, bands like Plankton and so many other bands would never be heard outside of their native countries. The majority of the albums I hear, I also buy, some at grossly inflated prices. I have also paid stupid prices to see some of the bigger bands like Steely Dan in action. It's only fair to say that most artists have little or no control over album or concert prices. Anyway, I'm not going to pay these rip-off prices anymore. There is a paradox here in that to be successful you have to sell out and be more mainstream and commercial. However, if you stay true to your musical beliefs and control your own musical output, you most likely will not be heard unless by blogging or another less commercial way. I will always urge people to buy albums, but not at expensive Japanese import prices. In other cases it is virtually impossible to buy an album as pressings are discontinued. If these albums were given the right publicity in the first place, these albums would always be available and at a cheaper price. It's all about big money. Have you heard artists like James McMurtry or Kyla Brox who are making fabulous albums. They are completely ignored while bands like U2 and the Stones continue to rake in millions. I am not slagging off these bands. I am saying that there are bands out there who are as good if not better than these supergroups and many people are only coming across them by accident. I like what Bob Walton said. In my case I need 36 days in an hour! Thanks, & TTU soon...Paul
