Cosmo St. Clair - Now Blues for Now People - 2002 - Analog y Digi-tal Recordings

"There is a punkish sentimentality in the way St. Clair presents these tracks, more of a laid back cool energy inherent in his playing. (This "coolness" got an extra point in the rating!) ...good song choices, some fine playing...catch this act live! - © www.cosmostclair.com. © Bruce Coen © 2002, Blue Night Productions. Great high-energy blues from L.A.-based Cosmo St. Clair. The album has an early sixties London sound reminiscent of the early Rolling Stones, Yardbirds, John Mayall, and The Animals. The album also retains the Chicago and Detroit blues sound. Dynamic stuff, and HR by A.O.O.F.C

BIO

Cosmo St. Clair was raised in Detroit and migrated to Los Angeles in the late eighties. "Growing up in Detroit was like growing up on the way-east side of Chicago," says Cosmo. "The Blues was everywhere. From the moment I heard the Blues I was hooked for life. It was so pure." Cosmo's earliest influences were B.B. King, Howlin' Wolf and Muddy Waters. His passion for the Blues grew as he discovered all of the American Blues icons. As a teenager Cosmo became a fan of the early sixties British Blues bands starting with Alexis Korner and Cyril Davies, Long John Baldry, and following the branches to The Rolling Stones, The Yardbirds and The Animals, to name a few. Cosmo's style blends authentic American Blues styles with the high-energy British styles of that early sixties period. Sum it up as Rhythm & Blues with attitude. Fans have come to refer to it as, Cosmostyle! "In the last few years, I haven't heard anything new on the Blues scene that matches the rebelliousness and excitement of the older stuff that first hit me like a bolt of lightning. That's why I decided it was time to do start recording what I had in my head and hit the road," says Cosmo. In 2004 Cosmo hit the Euro Blues circuit, playing club dates as well as the popular Delirium Blues Festival in Belgium, along with Byther Smith and Louisiana Red, and the four day long Breda Jazz Festival in Holland where he did two shows. Cosmo spent November touring Japan and in January 2005 performed a repeat four-show engagement in Hong Kong, a favorite stomping ground for him. When Cosmo is at home in Los Angeles, he can be seen doing his regular Wednesday Midnight Jam set at Michael's Pub in North Hollywood, featuring Sunny Girl Yoko on Blues Harp and an array of guest artists. Cosmo's current release is titled, Now Blues For Now People. It has received rave reviews from prominent music magazines all over the world. In December 2005, Octet Records released 'Now Blues For Now People' in Japan. © http://www.cosmostclair.com/bio.html
