Various Artists - Lenny: A Tribute to Stevie Ray Vaughan - 2009 - BHP Music

"Lenny" was the late SRV's pet name for his favourite Fender Stratocaster, and was sold at auction on June 24, 2004 for $623,500 to the Guitar Center, as part of the Clapton charity guitar auction benefiting the Crossroads Centre. A Guitar Center rep. said that the famous guitar will be exhibited in their stores. "Lenny" is the tenth track on the Stevie Ray Vaughan's 1983 "Texas Flood" album. The song was composed for his wife at the time, Lenora. Vintage Guitar Magazine's Eric Shoaf writing about the SRV tribute "Lenny" said that "This collection of aural soundscapes, titled simply Lenny, is a tribute to the memory of Stevie Ray Vaughan and a celebration of his accomplishments and influence on a generation of guitar players. Within these musical portraits, talented guitar players interpret Stevie's music and capture in instrumental form the caliber of his brilliance as well as the fundamental essence of his music. Think of these sound paintings as individual tributes, each as unique as Stevie, each a true original while praising his influence, each a memorial to a musician who died too young. As I listen, I am transported back to that day in 1983 when I stood in awe of that man's talent, moved by his deep feeling for the music he played. Guitarists featured include Larry Van Fleet, Howard Hart, Doug Doppler, Carlos Fragnito, James Ryan, Brian Tarquin, Buddy Guy and Steve Booke, among others".
