Derek & The Dominos

Derek & The Dominos - The Layla Sessions: 20th Anniversary Edition (Disc 2 - The Jams) - 1990 - Polydor

There have been dozens of alternate versions released of the famous "Layla Sessions". All the releases relate to the 1970 album, "Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs" which was recorded during August, and September 1970, at Criteria Studios, Miami, Florida by the one-off, one album studio band Derek & The Dominos, formed by Eric Clapton in 1970. Eric, on lead and rhythm guitars, together with Bobby Whitlock on organ, piano, vocals, and acoustic guitar, Jim Gordon on drums, percussion, and piano, and Carl Radle on bass, and percussion made up the band. Clapton and these musicians all played at some stage with Delaney, Bonnie & Friends. Greg Allman on guitar, and keyboards, Duane Allman on slide and lead guitar, bassist Berry Oakley, and guitarist, "Dickey" Betts from the Allman BB also took part in the now legendary "Layla Sessions". Does anybody know if Albhy Galuten, and Butch Trucks play piano, and drums respectively on these jams?. The post here is Disc 2 from the 3 CD set "The Layla Sessions: 20th Anniversary Edition" released in 1990 on Polydor. It contains over 75 minutes of five great long studio jamming tracks. N.B: It is not definite that these sessions are from the original master tapes, as there are hundreds of stories relating to the recording of "Layla", the exact list of musicians who took part, and the authenticity of the "master tapes" used in the many remixed and remastered versions of these sessions.

Carl Radle - Bass
Jim Gordon - Drums

"Jam IV"
Eric Clapton - Guitar

I hope that helps...see ya later!!

Cheers, D.Moose. That does help. There are dozens of versions of these Layla sessions. Gotta get a book about them, if there is one. TTU soon
