"I have known Ethan for a long time and have seen him develop, mature and hone his craft and become the monster musician that he is today. Pathos and Logos is a well crafted CD that has everything you want, need and look for in a great music CD. You must experience it!" - Rob Balducci (Favored Nations Recording Artist)
"Really great stuff! So much diversity track by track. One minute I'm listening to 7-string metal and the next I feel as if I've discovered some fantastic unreleased Lane/Hellborg-era gem! There hasn't been a guitar instrumental record of this caliber since Guthrie Govan's debut back in '06!" - David Bishea (Reviewer for instrumentalcase and Creator of the "Guitars Suck" video series.)
“This is a must have disc from a master of the guitar. Listening to him, one thing is very evident: he has total control over his guitar and his emotions flow effortlessly through it. He is easily one of the greatest players I have ever seen, a true virtuoso.” - Sal Tine, Owner, The Guitar Fix, NY
"Ethan's writing and performances on the new album are outstanding. From exquisite phrasing to super shred, Ethan does it all! It's rare to find such a versatile musician with this seasoned level of musicality! Awesome work!" - Carl Roa (Magic Elf, Carl Roa Band)
"This record displays some serious guitar virtuosity and composition. Ethan is a talented, serious musician that knows exactly what he is doing. No text book riffs or faking here, this man is a guitar playing architect." - Fred Guarino, Producer/President of Tiki Studios
Great debut CD album from the New York based guitar virtuoso Ethan Meixsell. “Pathos and Logos” is an eclectic collection of instrumental tracks covering many genres including fusion, hard rock, ambient, blues, and traditional jazz. The tracks are melodic, atmospheric, and Ethan produces some killer guitar pyrotechnics. Ethan has been a session musician and touring musician with artists including Carl Roa, Rob Balducci, The Scoldees and many others. One listen to guitarist Ethan Meixsell is all it takes to understand why he is one of the most exciting guitariststs in the NY area. He has developed a reputation as an extremely versatile musician, having professional credits as a guitarist, bassist, keyboardist, singer, arranger, engineer, and producer. As a performer he has become known for his meticulous attention to tone and feel, backed by a crushing technique. His music is a stream of consciousness melding of Jazz, Fusion, Blues, Metal, Progressive, and Ambient textures, with plenty of guitar pyrotechnics on display. His debut CD, "Pathos and Logos" is a showcase of guitar playing expertise. An eclectic and ambitious melding of Metal, Progressive Rock, Fusion, Blues, and Ambient textures, "Pathos and Logos" manages to show his explosive playing ability while never sacrificing the integrity of the music. This is a true composer's vision, not just a guitar wank-fest. Ethan wrote all of the material, produced, mixed, engineered and played most of the instruments on the CD. There are several tracks on which he performed every instrument. Ethan also has a long-standing collaboration with Rob Balducci. He produced Rob Balducci's "The Color of Light", and co-produced Rob's upcoming CD "Violet Horizon" for Steve Vai's Favored Nations record label. In addition to the production Ethan also performed bass and keyboards on both records. Following completion of "The Color of Light" Ethan became Rob's full time bassist. The Rob Balducci Band has toured internationally sharing billing with James Labrie (Dream Theater), Richie Kotzen, Michael Schenker, Uli Jon Roth, Jason Bonham, Guthrie Govan, Vinnie Moore, UFO, Steve Morse, Kansas, and many others. The band retains equipment endorsements from Ibanez, Cornford Amplification, D'addario, George L cables, Robert Keeley Electronics, Line 6 and Intellitouch tuners. Ethan is also the current bass player with progressive rock/fusion guitarist Carl Roa . The band has been supporting Carl's most recent release "Eternity" as well as the two previous Magic Elf records "Elf Tales" and "Heavy Meddle". Their live performances are filled with ferociously difficult technical passages and accessible melody. The band is endorsed by GHS Strings, Tech 21, and Fortin Amps. As the head engineer/producer for M3 Music, Ethan has worked with hundreds of artists in the New York Metro area and beyond, producing records of several different genres. He also maintains a teaching studio offering lessons in music theory, guitar, bass, and voice. His guitar transcriptions have been published by Guitarist, France's Guitar and Bass magazine, and Mel Bay Publishing. He is currently working on a book of creative concepts and techniques for the developing guitarist. Other recent projects include work on the soundtrack for the film "Brooklyn Lobster" produced by Martin Scorcese, several years as the lead guitarist with the scoldees, numerous studio performances in the NY area, and many compositions for television shows such as Maury Povich, Montel Williams, Dateline, and LA Ink.
