Get this crazy baby off my head!

Bobby Mack

Bobby Mack - Live At J&J Blues Bar - 1997 - Provogue

Bobby Mack seems to be an overlooked blues musician. He's a wonderful blues guitarist from Texas who has recorded a few albums of great blues rock, without receiving very much media coverage. He has received many distinguished awards and accolades in his home state, in recognition of his musical ability and achievements. His music is not well distributed in the US, and yet he has been playing since the mid seventies with great artists like Jimmy Rogers, Luther Allison, Albert Collins, Buddy Guy, and Junior Wells. He has recorded sessions with the Neville Brothers, Lonnie Mack and Doyle Bramhall, and he has produced many blues albums, including recordings for Willie Foster, and Lynne Campbell. Bobby is in keeping with the great blues tradition of the late, great blues guitarist, Stevie Ray Vaughan, another great Texan bluesman. This is a very good live album. Bobby has great backing here with drummer, Matt Ryan, Kelly Donnelly on bass, and Mark Goodwin on keyboards, and they cover some classic blues songs by Doc Savage, Jimmy Rogers, Slim Harpo, Freddie King, amd Elmore James in a fitting fashion. This is hot stuff! You would be doing Bobby Mack, Blues music, and yourself a great service, if you listened to Bobby's great "Highway Man" and "Red Hot and Humid" albums. If you see them in your record store, think about buying a copy. Great blues rock in the tradition of Johnny Winter, Walter Trout, and SRV. A talent like Bobby Mack shouldn't be overlooked. Promote this guy!
