Roger Chapman & The Shortlist

Roger Chapman & The Shortlist - Live In Hamburg - 1979 - Line (Germany)

The glossy sounds of Roger Chapman's solo debut (Chappo) are replaced here by renditions that crackle with energy. This album, originally an August 1979 radio broadcast, pairs a hard-hitting band with Chapman's gruff vocals, and it was demonstrative of Chapman's dedication to his R&B roots with covers of Willie Dixon, Chuck Berry and Little Richard. Thanks to this album's lineup of the Shortlist (Mel Collins, Tim Hinkley, Jerome Rimson), even the ballads rock. © Patrick Little, allmusic.com

This album has been released on many different labels, with bonus tracks, different track listings, and even as a 23 track double CD. The original concert was recorded live at the Markthalle, Hamburg on August 28th 1979 for radio. The edition posted here is the 1979 German Line label version. It's a 128 version and sound quality is only fair, however Roger Chapman / Family live albums are few, and this is at least, a fair sound document of the great man live in concert.
